Introducing our new Technical Officer: Nicholas Dawes

At Balco, we take pride in being one of the largest hay exporters in Australia. Our commitment to excellence and innovation has enabled us to build strong relationships with clients both locally and internationally. As part of our ongoing effort to provide exceptional customer service and support, we are excited to introduce our newest team member, Nicholas Dawes, who joins us as a Technical Officer.

Nicholas is from a small cropping area in South Australia, where his passion for agriculture began at a young age. This passion led him to pursue a Bachelor of Animal Science with Honours, specialising in Ruminant Nutrition. His academic journey provided him with a strong foundation in animal health, nutrition, and farm management practices, making him a perfect fit for our team at Balco.

Nicholas brings a wealth of experience, having spent significant time working as an Animal Health Specialist, where he provided expert advice on animal nutrition, farm production planning, and best practice management to a range of clients. His hands-on experience and furrow understanding of the agricultural industry have equipped him with the skills needed to address the unique challenges faced by our clients.

At Balco, Nicholas’s role involves actively supporting our clients, offering technical advice and solutions tailored to their specific needs. His extensive background in ruminant nutrition and animal health will be invaluable as he works to enhance the overall quality and efficiency of our clients’ operations. By bridging the gap between scientific research and practical application, Nicholas aims to drive continuous improvement in the use of oaten hay.

Nicholas is currently partnering with Melbourne University to conduct groundbreaking research on the benefits of oaten hay in international markets. This collaboration aims to uncover new insights into the nutritional advantages of oaten hay and its impact on animal health and productivity. The findings from this research will benefit our clients and contribute to the broader agricultural community’s understanding of oaten hay’s potential.

Nicholas’s goals at Balco include improving communication and education between overseas markets and our company. He provides high-level technical information that will help our international clients make informed decisions about their fodder needs. Domestically, he is focused on ensuring food safety and quality, aiming to bring value to our clients through enhanced production practices and animal health benefits.

His passion for nutrition and dedication to the agricultural sector fuel his enthusiasm to be part of the Balco team. Nicholas is eager to meet new people, take on new challenges, and contribute to the dynamic oaten hay industry. His commitment to excellence and innovation aligns perfectly with Balco’s mission to deliver the highest quality hay products and support to our clients.

We are confident that his expertise, enthusiasm, and dedication will be a significant asset to our clients and our team. With Nicholas on board, we look forward to continuing our tradition of excellence and innovation in the oaten hay export industry.
