In support of this, a newly created Maintenance Manager role is now available for Balco’s Raywood (VIC) operation.
Reporting to the General Manager, this site-based role will be responsible for overseeing the comprehensive maintenance program of our hydraulically driven hay press, fixed plant, equipment, and general site maintenance. This critical role will ensure that the hay press is operating at optimal efficiency, minimizing downtime and production delays.
Key responsibilities will include the following:
- Provide effective leadership to the maintenance team to build a high performing team.
- Develop and manage the maintenance program for all plant and mobile machinery.
- Work with site leadership to develop the schedule of preventive maintenance to minimise production downtime and maximise reliability and equipment lifespan.
- Apply company tender and procurement processes to engage third parties.
- Manage contractors to ensure services are delivered safely and according to scope, cost and quality agreements.
- Provide technical input and support as required to major capex projects.
- Ensure all maintenance work adheres to safety standards and company policies.
- Ensure repairs and maintenance costs are within budget and other KPIs are met as assigned annually.
- Monitor completed work to ensure compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives including automation and process efficiencies.
Key attributes and qualifications required for the role:
- Degree or trade qualified in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering.
- Experience in similar leadership maintenance role within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in hay or similar product processing an advantage.
- Experience developing and mentoring maintenance officers/technicians.
- Experience with MEX or similar maintenance management software.
- Sound understanding of preventative maintenance practices, quality assurance and improvement systems.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and respond to unplanned & out of hours maintenance related events.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experienced in understanding and role modelling safe work practices.
